I'm under way! The "Wind Man" carving has been started. Working with this new air tools has been great! The ability to get the details without chipping out the red oak has worked well. The picture is showing the how the ends of the carving is going to look. The "Wind Man" will be in the center.

Sometimes you just have to go with it! I got this new tool, air driven, for a new carving. I've been commissioned to do the "Wind Man". It is going to be the center piece for a fireplace mantle. I'll be sure to post some pictures when it's finished.

I've been working on the website and its been a challenging endeavour. I've been having trouble with editing and saving changes. I would much rather spend time working with wood. Wishing everyone the best of the spring weather!!

Sunday evening, looking forward to the new week. Day light saving has gone into effect, which I like.

We've had a good winter and I'm looking forward to the warm summer days.

The Beginning!

I've just got this going (the Blog). I'll be showing work that has been completed and I will make posting of work in progress. Please feel free to make comments. This is a new medium for me and I would like to encourage constructive criticism.

The picture I've posted are from a basement remodel I completed just before Thanksgiving of 2008. This commission consists mainly of quarter sawn red oak, black walnut, and spalted beech. In the hearth there are over 13 different woods, 3 types of ebony, wenge, cocobolo, purple heart, white oak, red oak, black walnut, and spalted beech and maple.

The design in mainly mine. The client had an idea from there I expanded on it. At first, when designing the hearth I had a lot of contact with the client. After that they pretty much gave me free rein over the rest of the project.
